The MitoPRO X uses six precision wavelengths: 590nm (amber), 630nm, 660nm, 810nm, 830nm, and 850nm — delivered via TruDUAL™ dual-chip LED packages.

590nm amber — studied for skin health, collagen support, nitric oxide release, and serotonin modulation. 630nm + 660nm — core red light wavelengths targeting cytochrome c oxidase peak action spectra. 810nm — the globally most-studied NIR wavelength (1,200+ studies), particularly for brain, nerve, and deep tissue. 830nm + 850nm — deep NIR penetration for muscle, joint, and systemic recovery.

TruDUAL™ Chip Technology means each LED lens package contains two independent chips on separate circuits. This allows the panel to operate as:

100% NIR (810nm + 830nm + 850nm) — full intensity near-infrared only
50% Red + 50% NIR — both simultaneously at full intensity per channel

810nm is the most studied wavelength in photobiomodulation research, with over 1,200 published studies — particularly for brain health, neuroprotection, and nerve regeneration. It also sits closer to the cytochrome c oxidase absorption peak in the 800–830nm range identified by Karu & Kolyakov (2005), and achieves greater tissue penetration depth than 850nm due to reduced water absorption at this wavelength.

Most consumer panels use 850nm because it is easier to source. The MitoPRO X includes 810nm specifically to capture these research advantages.

590nm amber has been studied for its unique effects on skin elasticity, collagen production, and nitric oxide release in vascular tissue. Nitric oxide is a key signaling molecule involved in circulation, immune response, and cellular communication.

590nm also sits at a wavelength associated with serotonin modulation and may have circadian rhythm benefits. It is rarely included in consumer panels due to LED sourcing cost — the MitoPRO X includes it as a precision addition for comprehensive wavelength coverage.

The MitoPRO X has three onboard modes: Mode 1 — 100% Red (590/630/660nm); Mode 2 — 50% Red + 50% NIR; Mode 3 — 100% NIR (810/830/850nm), limited to 5 minutes on the panel (since NIR is invisible, this prevents inadvertent extended exposure).

Via the Mito Red Light app: NIR Extend mode runs continuous NIR for up to 20 minutes (cycles briefly to red every 4 minutes); additional modes are added with app updates.
