Why We List Two Irradiance Numbers

You may notice that we list two irradiance figures for our panels. That’s intentional - and it comes down to transparency in an industry that unfortunately lacks standardized testing methods.

Most red light therapy brands report irradiance using solar power meters. These meters were designed to measure full-spectrum sunlight, not high-powered, narrowband LED light. When used on red and near-infrared therapy devices, solar meters can overstate output—sometimes by as much as 2–3×. Some companies rely on these numbers simply because they don’t realize the limitation; others use them because they make marketing claims like “most powerful” easier to support.

Because there are currently no universally accepted testing standards in the red light therapy industry, we publish both figures. The solar-meter number is included for reference only, since it’s still commonly used and can be marginally helpful when comparing brands on a like-for-like basis. But we also publish professional independent laboratory measurements, taken with the correct instruments for measuring LED therapy devices. All of our panels are tested by LightLab International, an independent, accredited lab.

We believe consumers deserve accuracy, transparency, and honesty. Our lights are powerful, well-engineered, and - after more than seven years in business - trusted and loved by our customers. Publishing real lab data is part of our commitment to doing business the right way and helping raise the bar for the entire industry.
