Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate (THD) is an oil-soluble ester of Vitamin C that addresses all of these limitations: it is pH-neutral, highly stable, and well tolerated even by reactive skin. Its lipid-soluble nature allows it to integrate more effectively into the skin's surface layers. For a facial serum intended for daily use and for use before red light sessions, THD is simply the better-engineered form of Vitamin C for this application.

Methylene Blue (Methylthioninium Chloride) is a well-studied compound with a long history in medicine and, more recently, in cosmetic formulations. As an antioxidant, it operates through a unique redox cycling mechanism — it can repeatedly donate and accept electrons, functioning as a renewable antioxidant rather than a one-time sacrificial agent like Vitamin C.

Research has shown it may help reduce the appearance of fine lines and support overall skin vitality. It is included in MitoAURA™ Serum at cosmetic concentrations for its antioxidant properties and to complement the broader light-responsive ingredient profile of the formula.

Green tea (EGCG) is a legitimate antioxidant and a reasonable choice. However, it offers a single antioxidant mechanism with no light-responsive chemistry, no peptide support, and no cellular energy ingredients.

Apply the serum immediately before your red light therapy session on clean, dry skin.

Pump 2–3 pumps into your hands and gently smooth over the face and neck. Do not apply more than needed — the serum is concentrated.

Week 1: Use your red light device alone for 2–3 minutes on a small area. Wait 24 hours and observe for any photosensitivity (redness, itching, irritation).

Weeks 1–2: If no sensitivity, gradually increase to 8–10 minutes per session.

Once acclimated: Introduce the serum. If you have sensitive or reactive skin, patch test on your inner forearm first and wait 24 hours before applying to the face.
